One of the most historical schooners of Lanzarote, the Bella Lucia, arrived at Marina Lanzarote yesterday. It will be cleaned and prepared to become a pleasure boat for the Princesa Yaiza hotel. The idea is that customers of Princesa Yaiza Hotel can hire this services for excursions and festive activities.
Bella Lucia is a boat with a lot of history. Since it was built in 1880 in Gran Canaria, it has had different destinations and dedications, and many owners. It was even owned by the Cabildo of Lanzarote. At first, the schooner of 28 meters in length transported goods between islands, but later it was mainly used for fishing at Cabo Blanco. It was acquired by businessman Juan Francisco Rosa in 2000, who restored it to its original design after almost 3 years of hard work, with the intention of using it for pleasure craft.
The great transformation of the schooner was carried out in Maestro Tito’s workshop. Wilfredo Tabares (Fredi) and Tito´s son got extraordinary results. This restoration was very important to preserve this historical boat.
It launched a few years ago, but it was hardly used. It will leave Marina Lanzarote in the next few days, where it was cleaned, and it will be heading for Marina Rubicon in Playa Blanca. There it will have a new dedication as pleasure craft for the customers of the Princesa Yaiza Hotel.
